Sheena Jeffers

Sheena Jeffers started her dance training at the age of 5 under the direction of Ann Catherine Cross in Mechanicsville, Virginia. She was a member of the competition team for years, before moving to Virginia Beach where she studied musical theater and dance at Governor’s School for the Arts in Norfolk, Virginia. There she performed in many shows including “Chicago,” “Lucky Stiff,” and traveled with the school to Miyazaki, Japan to perform the Broadway hit “Smokey Joe’s Cafe.” Sheena also performed with Virginia Musical Theatre. Working with renowned choreographers and teachers up and down the East coast, she continued to study various techniques of dance including jazz, tap, lyrical, hip-hop, contemporary, Broadway jazz, pointe and modern. She has also studied with Denise Wall at Denise Wall’s Dance Energy and Broadway Dance Center in New York City.

Sheena is a graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University where she was a member of the VCU Dance Team, while studying with Richmond Ballet. She works with Christian Youth Theater of Richmond, and serves as a choreographer for Randolph-Macon College Dance Team. Sheena’s students have been accepted into James Madison University, East Carolina University, Governor’s School programs, and were chosen “Top 16 Under 16” by Style Weekly for 2011 and 2012. Sheena is the author of Ballet Shoes & Bobby Pins, an online blog about dance education throughout Virginia. She is currently working on her Masters in Dance Education through Old Dominion University.

In her free time, she loves to practice yoga, read, go to the beach, and spend time with her family. Having grown up in Richmond and Virginia Beach, her heart belongs to both cities.
